Nesting

OK. So I think when most women go through nesting they are gathering things for their new baby, putting the nursery together, cleaning, etc. Now, while I am doing those things, they are not at the top of my list. I am getting rid of stuff. Yes, STUFF. The things STUFFING my attic and STUFFING my basement… STUFFING the space under the beds and STUFFING the closets. I don’t really know how all this stuff creaped into our house but I’m done with it. If I’m not using it it’s out of here! I’m almost through the attic and am done with the basement. The basement is now holding all of the garage sale items that I will be getting rid of at the first warm spell of spring. In cleaning out the attic, I have discovered that at one point in my life I was a hoarder. Yes, I’m admitting it. As a high school student I decided I needed to keep every single school paper, news paper that interested me, notes to and from friends, etc. This had filled up too many Rubermaid tubs to count. So slowly but surely (hey, it’s freezing up there!) I’m trashing 99% of it. Last week the pile at the end of the driveway on trash day looked like the whole neighborhood’s trash after Christmas! I’m thankful for our cooperative trash collectors!

So now we have less of a fire hazard and more room for the 4 of us. And that’s a good thing. Be sure to keep your ears open for the most massive garage sale ever coming this spring. Then your house can be full of my STUFF!
