Freeganism

No, I’m not cursing. I learned about the freegan lifestyle today on Oprah. Although to what degree, I’m not sure, I think I may fall into a category of this (having one car, trying to scale back in the housing department, getting RID of clothes, toys, and other STUFF we just don’t NEED). I think it’s incredible that these people are taking a stand against the consumerism that “consumes” America. I love that they are living simple lives and are building community with one another, helping each other out when needed. I’ve looked a little more into this online and it is a rapidly growing movement across the nation. I’ve yet to pullĀ  food out of a dumpster, but I have been known to find some treasures in some trash! :) It certainly makes me want to just be more aware of what I consume, not just from a “green” point of view, but from the standpoint of simply using too much. We’re now making more of an effort to recycle too!

I’m sure I’ll be writing more on this soon, but I’m tired and off to bed!
