Call me John Stossel b/c I say “Gimme a Break”…

Ok. So I just say a commercial for the local late night newscast where the anchor said something along the lines of the following: “Coming up tonight- a pastor’s challenge to his church which just might have his congregation feeling uncomfortable”. The word “uncomfortable” was definitely a quote from her. She was referring to THIS. (Which is a take on what THIS church did a year ago- which also made national news).

Here’s my issue. It’s not with either church’s challenge to their people. It’s with how the media portrays it. Why is this “uncomfortable” for anyone? We are a-ok (we as a society… even we as Christians (more on that later)) with watching smut on tv and movies, and listening to it on the radio or our iPods, and even letting our kids be be introduced to it early via video games, etc. For the most part, we don’t blink an eye. Even if we don’t condone those actions, we still don’t really flinch when there is an inappropriate scene on the tube.

But this makes people uncomfortable? What does that say about us? We’re more uncomfortable talking about true relationships and growing closer to our spouses than we are watching trash play out on the tv.

Gimme’ a break. That’s sad.
